Hi Friends!

One thing that I really enjoy is continually learning. I’m not talking textbooks and group projects (where I somehow always get the short end of the stick!) but I like to know that I can always learn and grow no matter how good (or awful) I am at a skill. As we’re all aware on this blog, I love playing around with calligraphy and I’m constantly evolving.

Calligraphy Art Supplies | Hey Love Designs

I went to a real, legit art store for the first time over the weekend and I thought I died and went to heaven! There were so many more choices when it came to gouache, paper, pencils, and nibs compared to my usual go-to craft stores. I had a voucher to spend but it was hard to stay within $20. I even got a rewards card.

As you can see, I stocked up on pencils, erasers, and a pencil sharpener. I’m starting to pre-sketch my calligraphy for more elaborate and detailed projects! I took Molly Suber Thorpe’s “Digitizing Calligraphy: From Sketch to Vector” Skillshare course to learn how to get my hand lettering off the paper and onto a computer. This will help greatly with bigger projects such as full invitations suites (all in calligraphy!), logo design, and art prints. I’m so excited to reach new levels of calligraphy awesomeness.

Gooooooooold! | Hey Love Designs

Oh, and I bought some gold ink too. It’s awesome. You have to shake it up first, which results in this magical movement that doesn’t settle for awhile. I wish I had a better way of describing it. Oh well, just look how pretty!

Do you geek over art supplies like I do? What’s your poison?
