Hi Friends!
It’s been awhile since I’ve shared some of the craftiness I’ve been up to outside of my blog. If you want even more, follow me on Snapchat at msmichelle82. I’ve gotten into the habit of sharing step by step progress as well. Oh and a billion snaps of my dog.
The photo above shows 3 things I made. It started with painting wood boards from the craft store so I had cool photography “backdrops.” The other side is mint. The boards sit side by side, so they’re easy to store and are portable. I’ve taken them to work a few times!
The mug came from a “studio lot sale.” I had no idea what this was until one happened to pop up next to work. It turns out that they are props from movie sets that they just get rid of. In addition to a lamp, I picked up this very basic mug (in my color, of course) and added a cute little face with a marker. I finally have my own work mug! This will never have to go in a dishwasher so I didn’t have to use a special marker or anything.
As for the pineapple print, it was a result of leftover paint and a bulk pack of canvas. I criss-crossed thin washi tape to get that pineapple “texture.”
As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been trying to expand my watercolor skills from handlettering to painting objects. I can’t help it if all I want to do is paint food! I love food. It loves me, too.
I’ve somehow been getting a lot of free sunglasses but they’re so boring! I jazzed these bad boys up with some paint I had laying around.
More in the “Michelle expanding her skills” department: I finally took a paintbrush and wrote on those bulk canvases I mentioned earlier. I love how this one came out.
Lastly, I was commissioned to make burlap bunting for a wedding. I’m not gonna lie – burlap is a little difficult to deal with. But once I got to the part where I strung them together, everything was a breeze.
So back to Snapchat, I hate to admit how much I’ve been enjoying it but I feel like it’s the best place to be completely random. My Instagram is so insanely curated (but so proud of how shiny and pretty it looks!) and I’ve been less random on Twitter. I like that Snapchat let’s me share a “story” of my day without staying on the web forever and it’s a great way to catch up with friends who don’t post to Facebook regularly. My snap stories have been mostly about my dog and stand up paddleboarding, but lately I’ve found it’s the perfect place to share my DIY adventures. I even got into sharing step by step procedures. It’s like a tutorial video but it doesn’t have to look good!
